About

My name is Chris, and I am an obsessive historic preservation architect, Rochester NY fanatic, local history advocate, and avid gardener. My fiance (house repair slave), Kit, is equally nerdy…about other things…and encourages my neurosis. These pages are the record of the ongoing adventures of owning and restoring a special little house, that needs a lot of love. I hope it can be a source of inspiration and entertainment to anyone else out there brave enough to be a good steward of an old building.

Here’s to my perfect, and I do mean perfect, little money pit. Cheers!

  1. Chris,

I am the Stadtmueller’s grand-daughter. We would love to speak with you and wish you the very best with your project. Looking at your pictures so many features of the house appear to be original. The bedroom with the window bench was my Mom’s bedroom growing up. She plans to reach out to you as well. Best Regards, Debi Keck

  2. Hi Chris! My name is Courtney and I work at the Memorial Art Gallery. I posted the picture of curators poking around in the Times Square Building, and saw your comment that you have pictures of the inside of the building? I’m wondering if you’d be willing to share those! We’re trying to find out as much about the mural that was there as we can. Thanks so much!

  3. Hi, Chris! I tried to get Andrew Struble‘s contact information from Steve Jordan – he recommended my fabulous last painter, who has since left the area – but the phone number I have for Steve must be outdated. Can you email Andrew’s information to me?

    Appreciate the help, thanks!!

  4. Chris, I am the owner of the old Haag House (https://rochistory.wordpress.com/2016/10/31/the-haunting-at-haag-house/)
Would you PLEASE contact me about the bones found in the house in the 80’s? I would also like to know why the inside of the house had almost all of the original woodwork taken out. It is very disappointing that the inside does not match the outside, except the bannister in the front.
My name is Michelle and my number is 585-244-4648. Thank you very much for commenting on that wordpress article. I am so curious to know about the bones. Btw, the house is not haunted. 😦
